I am sure you have noticed, it has been a while since I have blogged. I have started several blogs over the last few months. All of these blogs have ended up being pushed into my trash unfotunately. This blog is going to be more about where my head has been at. I am sure many of you will relate and/or agree.
What happened to us? Never would I have thought people would be so mean and harsh to others for having opposing views. Never, did I think we would have two presidential candidates that would base their election on how terrible the other was vs shining light on their own accomplishments and goals. Every person not only has their own opinion and views…they go to town on bullying others on social media. I have been guilty of arguing my views and opinions, taking it too far at times as well. This is not ok and we must all commit to making it not acceptable! At the end of the day, we are all on the same team fighting for the same thing…what we feel is best for us. Just because you can type something and not have to face that person, does not make it ok to treat them as if they are not a human being with feelings and the right to their own opinion. If you feel compelled to take a stand and voice your opinoin, that is great. Do it in a constructive manner though. Social media bullying is a real problem in society. Kids grow up, see this and think it is ok. We have to be the example. Stop making social media bullying acceptable, take a stand!
What is next? You hear a lot of people throwing out “love” expressions, love trumps hate, etc. Do you say it or do you really show it? Are you complaining about things that happened on social media or are you doing something to make a difference? Think about all the negativity on social media every day. What if, all those people came together to work on something positive during that time? Our world needs people to unify, needs people to work together, it NEEDS LOVE. When I say unify, I do not necessarily mean everyone has to agree. I do mean you have to work together and compromise at times. Do you have children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren? I BET you have at least one person that looks up to you, whether you know it or not. When you think no one is watching you, that kid/person is still watching and learning from you. Every move we make, every comment we leave on a social media post…it is there and someone is going to look at it and say “that is acceptable.” Remember this, the kids today are our future. Take a stance against negativity and fight for treating others with respect. We need positive influence and real leadership more than ever in the world today. It starts wtih us. With the ball in your court, what are you going to do now?
Sorry for being MIA for so long. Turn off the media, do some reading, invest in you and make a difference in the lives of those around you! Until next time..yours truly,
